Disney Pixar Cars 2 Exciting Upcoming Sequel!
The sequel is in production, folks. Disney Pixar Cars 2: World Grand Prix is scheduled to release in 2011, a year after another hit sequel film, Toy Story 3.
While John Lasseter directed Cars, he's handed over the reigns to Brad Lewis, who had produced Ratatouille in 2007. You can read the official Disney Pixar Cars 2 press release at Pixar's site.
Unfortunately, since the first Cars movie was released, several cast members have since passed away. Joe Ranft, who played both Red and Peterbuilt, died in an auto accident in 2005. George Carlin, who played the hippy bus Fillmore, died of heart failure in June 2008, and Doc Hudson actor, Paul Newman, passed away in September that same year after battling lung cancer. To date, there is no word if these characters will still be written into the sequel or if roles will be recast.
Cars 2 Plot
Lightning McQueen and Mater make a trip around the globe for the "Race of Champions" taking place in five different countries: the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Japan. Amist all this, Mater inadvertently finds himself embroiled in a secret agent spy world.
Doesn't that sound exciting!
Just imagining Mater the country bumpkin in a sophisticated European setting or in high-tech, fast-paced Japan should be hilarious.
