Finding Nemo Characters:
The Minor Characters
The Finding Nemo characters with minor roles may not have much screen time in the movie, but they are unforgettable. Almost all of these characters play a pivotal role and make the story a success. From the sharks to the sea turtles, let's reacquaint ourselves with these ocean-going aquatic creatures.
Crush & Squirt
A 150 year old sea turtle, Crush is a laid back father with his son, Squirt. Both talk surfer style, saying "dude" often. They are amongst a group of sea turtles riding the East Australian Current and the turtles help Marlin and Dory on their way to Sydney to find Nemo.
Crush shows Marlin how trusting his son Squirt helps the youngster do amazing things. Squirt is fearless and smart, hardly aware of his tiny size that may otherwise hinder his courage. Crush likes to call Marlin Jellyman and Dory Little Blue. At the end of the movie, we see that Squirt has joined Nemo's school in the coral reef.
Bruce is a terrifying, HUGE Australian great white shark with a mouth full of very sharp teeth. Bruce is the leader of the group called Fish Friendly Sharks and he proudly claims that he has not eaten a fish for three weeks. But his record is challenged when he smells Dory's blood during a struggle and Bruce goes crazy at the scent.
Bruce was named after the mechanical shark used in the James Cameron movie Jaws.
Anchor & Chum
The fellow members of the Fish Friendly Sharks group are Anchor and Chum.
Anchor is a hammerhead shark whose head looks like a ship's anchor.
Chum is much smaller than Bruce and he's got a fish hook stuck through his nose. Chum claims to have eaten his fish friend for the meeting and Marlin got to be the replacement.
This Finding Nemo character is Blenny, the tiny quivering, big-eyed fish who is Anchor's fish friend for the Fish Are Friends, Not Food support group modeled after AA. At the end of the film, we see that Blenny becomes fearless and swallows the anglerfish in one gulp!
Nigel's a friendly pelican who comes to visit the Tank Gang through the window of the dentist's office before getting shoo'ed away. He hears Nemo's story and later on, Nigel gets word through the sea creature network that Marlin is on his way to rescue Nemo.
Nigel rescues Marlin and Dory just before they are attacked by a group of seagulls. He takes them in his large beak filled with water to the dentist office where Nemo is held. At this time, though, Nemo is playing dead so that Darla won't take him. Marlin, looking out from Nigel's mouth, sees this and Nigel returns them both to the sea, departing with "I'm so sorry."
